How do I become a faster sprinter?

I have always been a fast sprinter...on the hundred meter I got 13.9 seconds...but how do I become faster? Or is it just a natural thing? I had my track meet today and am looking to improve. How do I become a faster sprinter?
That's good congrats!:) You have to push yourself. Practice. And when you practice, don't just sprint the hundred meter. Sprint farther. Keep sprinting farther and farther to the point where you feel yourself pushing it. When you start to feel comfortable with your run, you know you're doing it wrong. If you keep pushing yourself outside your comfort zone, then your comfort zone will increase, and you'll get faster and better.
Do some wind sprints, sprinting for a kinda short distance as fast as you can. And stretch alot, flexibility is important in sprinting because it prevents you from hurting yourself, and it helps lengthen your strides for better timing =]How do I become a faster sprinter?
Try going on long walks and Sprint really really fast but only for a short amount of time. Like 30 sec - 1min then jog. Then sprint again... etc...

How can I become a faster sprinter?

I recently joined the track team at my school and while I enjoy running, hanging out with friends, and I'm a pretty good thrower in shot and discus, I have to admit, I'm one of the slowest sprinters on the team. If there is anyone who knows a good way to train, eat, or anything else to become a faster sprinter quickly, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks in advanceHow can I become a faster sprinter?
ok tie something heavy like a big tire to your waist and run as fast as you can for as long as you can (short distances). run on your toes is a biggy because the pressure is just being released instantly instead of taking impact on your knees so you spring forward faster. eat lots of protein like meat and eggs and do alot of cardiovascular activities like running on trails and what not.How can I become a faster sprinter?
Practice sprinting. Run on your toes. Eat healthy. Do squats. Good Luck! How can I become a faster sprinter?
work on your hamstrings, calves, quads. That should help a little, the rest is up to you
try strengthing ur calves or u can buy the little parachute things that tie around ur waist and it makes u faster

How much does a sprinter in high school track weight?

I am 150 and I am a sprinter I run the 100m in 11sec and was looking at some videos about track and the sprinters look like they have alot of muscle...should weight matter.. am I too skinny or what

(I have never joined track but I want to)How much does a sprinter in high school track weight?
It does not matter, the person who holds the World Record in the 100m and 200m, is very tall and skinny for a sprinter.

Well if your time is 11 then you really should be telling other people to weigh 150 too! Sprinters at my school are average height 5'5" and weigh 110-130 but ya know were not that good!

How do I become a faster sprinter?

I joined my school's track team and I'm one of the slowest out of all my friends and it sucks. I'm not super slow but below average speed. I think one of my problems is bad form. However, I don't know exactly what is wrong because everybody tells me different things and I don't see myself while I run.

I can't really find any articles or diagrams on proper sprinting form but those would be useful. How can I improve my form and how can I increase my speed as a sprinter? How do I become a faster sprinter?
Form-

Starting in blocks: Rise out of the blocks as you run slowly, and you should be standing straight up once you get 50m into the race(100m dash).

Keep arms at a 90 degree angle and pump them really fast! Also run on the balls of your feet and keep your toes pointing up, and don't crunch your fists, cuz then your concenrating to much energy in your hands.

Practice-

Do a lot of high knees! High knees=Longer stride= faster sprint.

Lift weights!
A good start is very important. Lean forward as you're waiting for the start signal in competitive sprints. This will give you better momentum. I just figured this out myself a few weeks ago in track :) Also, building up the strength in your legs because it gives more strength to push you off the ground farther. Also, stretch. This will give you a longer leap as you run.How do I become a faster sprinter?
if your white then forget about it. White people have slow twitch muscles fibers which gives them endurance and black people and fast twitch muscle fibers which gives them explosivness but they get tired quicker. Thats why black people are amazing at jumping lifting weight etc and white people are amazing at running marathons. Dont beleive search it on google
duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude. that sucksHow do I become a faster sprinter?
Wait at least 2.5 hours after eating before training or racing, this will prevent the felling of nausea during and after practices and when performing in competitions.

Two days before a meet, do very light practices and increase the fluids and salt in your diet. The fluids and salt helps you stay hydrated and is an important element in conducting electrical impulses to your muscles for proficient performances.

A better 100m run 鈥?form and technique will get you there.

I think the key to running in any race well is to stretch your leg muscles first, especially the front and back part of the thigh for sprinters. Then take a warm up jog around the track, focus on getting your legs to feel loose. On the back stretch of the track focus on lifting your knees in a comfortable jog and as you come around the second curve, focus on pumping your arms around it.

If you want to be better than most sprinters then you must understand this concept, perfecting your technique in sprinting will improve your speed. To measure your progress, set your objective on bettering your best, not on beating someone in particular.

There are three phases to sprinting the 100, they are; the start, the first 60 and, the last 40.

The Start:

Standing Starts: If you are taking a standing start do this.

1.) Place one leg out in front of the other.

2.) If your right foot is out front, hold your right hand and arm behind you and set your left arm and hand in front of you. Throw your right arm forward and left arm back to start.

3.) Do the reverse of 2, if your left foot is forward.

4.) Take a deep breath and hold it until the gun goes off. Make no wasted motions moving forward.

Starting Block Position: If you are down on one knee at the start, with or without starting blocks, do this.

1.) Get into the set position by placing both hands just behind the starting line. Have your hands open and have your thumbs facing each other.

2.) When the starter says set, raise your hips to where it feels like it is shooting a straight line to the finish line. This is very important; never raise your hips all the way up.

3.) When you feel comfortable in this position, take a deep breath and hold it until the gun goes off. If you are in blocks, push out with both feet, not just one.

4.) Important! When the gun goes off which hand should come up first? If your right knee is up when you get into the starting block position, then your right hand comes up first and your left hand moves backwards.

5.) The reverse is true for number 4, if your left knee is up, then left hand is up first.

The First 60:

Think of yourself as coming out of the start like a rocket being fired at a 45 degree angle. You want to hold that angle for about 10m out with your head still looking down. There is not much thinking going on at this point.

Once you become erect in running posture, focus on being relaxed while running. You do this by relaxing your shoulders, swinging your arms in a straight line, having your hands come up towards the side of your face, keeping your shoulders from moving back and forth and, lifting your knees as high as possible. Your mind is clear at this time, so you can think about this as you run for the next 50m.

The Last 40:

This is where the good separate from the not as good. Holding top speed past this point takes technique. If you are beginning to feel stiff and start to jerk at this point, you have not been relaxed enough in your running. You will go no faster.

If you are feeling comfortable at this point and want to shift into a faster speed do this. Open your hands wide open. Hold your elbows at about a stiff 45 degrees and begin pumping your elbows to the back harder and faster while staying relaxed. Your hands should come up to the sides of your head. Do not think about your legs at all, at this point, because the faster you move your arms back, your legs will automatically follow. This does not work the other way around, think of moving your legs faster to run faster 鈥?will not work while running at top speed. Slowing down before the finish line will cost you in this race - so don't.

To condition yourself for the 100m, try running 150m running at about 85 percent of your top speed. Focus on your form, breath with your mouth and, push the air in and out of your body with your stomach.

How can i make myself a faster sprinter?

Hi im 13 years old i am quite a fast sprinter but i could improve i drink quite alot of water and eat alot of fruit and vegtables. I am quite a fast sprinter but i don't do alot of exercing and i dont streach any ideas on improving my sprinting would be helpful thanks. How can i make myself a faster sprinter?
There are several ways to improve,

Sprint- a few to improve this is such as :

High Intensity Shuttle Run

Pace out 30 meters on grass or a running track. Place a cone at the start and at 5 meter intervals (7 cones in total).

Sprint from the starting cone to 5 meter cone and back. Turn and sprint to 10 meter cone and back to start. Sprint to 15meter cone and back to start and so on until you sprint the full 30 meters and back.

Rest for 90 seconds and repeat. Complete a total of 6 sets keeping rest periods to 90 seconds.

Reaction time- to give you the quickest possible moment to go.

A way to improve is;

For sprinters to improve their reaction to the starting gun

Starting position- Standing tall and relaxed

Command-

Blow on a whistle or clap of the hands - given from behind the athlete

Action The following should all happen together:

1.The right knee is brought sharply up to a position where the thigh is parallel with the ground, the lower leg is vertical to the ground and the foot is dorsi flexed

2.The arms are brought to the sprint position

3.The athlete rises up onto the toes of the left foot

Notes It is assumed that the right foot is placed in the rear block of the starting blocks on a sprint start - if it is the left foot then change the leg action above

Power- to give a fast explosive moment at the start in a short period of time,.

Just go to the gym and work on the correct muscles needed. But seeing your only 13, not sure .

Note- when doing short distance you dont respire areobic, meaning you dont breathe much,.

You annerobic respire, there is something else you do to feed the muscles. Im not sure what or how to improve it. So seeing you would do 100m, hold your breath (or try to).

Hope this helps
There are quite a few things you can do.

Some weight training would help. To help condition your muscles. And upper body strength is just as important as lower body strength (think how fast your arms have to move)

Breathing exercises can help too. You can practice while doing some longer distance running. Imagine the air filling up your lungs from the BOTTOM to the TOP. When you release the air push it out from the bottom to the top as well (like squeezing toothpaste out of a tube). This will help you get more oxygen and you'll have more control over your lungs.

Also, your body automatically breathes in...so you have to make sure it's breathing OUT properly. See if you can breathe out twice for every breath in ("Out-out IN, Out-out IN")

Eat complex carbs the day before you race...

Make sure you start a good stretching routine...

....How can i make myself a faster sprinter?
As a 13 year old, your like a filly prancing about , the thing is don't overdo it, just take it easy. You have got to leave your muscles to develop and you might go and bring a gold medal back.
When you are actually sprinting you need to really pump your arms. Try and practice sprinting and bring your knees quite high. Also try sprinting on your toes.

Wear Spikes.

When you start go into a sprint position. How can i make myself a faster sprinter?
Do squats and strengthen your calves. Building up the muscles in your legs, specifically calves, you should improve.
Practise

Wear Aero Dynamic clothes

Good footwear

eating healthly doesnt make u faster

just more energetic

you wil start having problems if u go on a diet

Hope i helped
then if you thinking of being a sprinter then you should start exercise a lot and try also to eat red meat it helps
see if you can outrun a lion that would make you quicker in no time...

On a serious note maybe a personal trainer would be able to guide you in the right direction
By training dayly and very hard.
to sprint faster you need to run harder

  • Does the event sprinter in track & field could possibly give me a very strong stamina?

Hi! I'm a sprinter but I want to have a stamina which middle/long distance posses. Is that possible? How?Does the event sprinter in track %26amp; field could possibly give me a very strong stamina?
Yes your white so you don't have extreme slow twitch (kenyan) or extreme fast twitch (west African) your a jack of all trades so middle distance is perfect just run middle distance/long distances and your body will adapt.

If however your white and you were one of the fastest kids at school then your lucky enough to be born with fast twitch muscle fibres like alot of west africans are so try out for long or high jump 400m etc.Does the event sprinter in track %26amp; field could possibly give me a very strong stamina?
    Food for thought:

How fast does the average sprinter run a 400m at 15 years old?

I'm a runner and I'm just curious. I haven't raced yet this season but I would bet that my time would be somewhere around 56 seconds. How fast does the average sprinter run a 400m at 15 years old?
Ignore Anthony, the answer above me. Very few people run 400m below 50 seconds. I'm sure you already know that. I'm assuming you're a male, since you believe you can run a 56. Well, let's see...the average 15 year old male who is in track and field? All levels of competition included -Varsity, Junior Varsity and Frosh/Soph- if you took the median...it'd be about 59-60. I actually ran the 4x4 three hours ago for the first time and got a 57. I'm not built as a sprinter, I'm much more a distance runner, so I'm happy with a 57. It's a decent time. You haven't given me much information about you though...cause honestly, it's tough to estimate what you're time is, especially because being just a few seconds off is a whole different time. A 60 is nowhere near is good as a 57, even though they're only ("only") three seconds apart. If you can run a 56 and you're 15 -probably a sophomore- then that's a good time. Work on it. If you get anything 59 or better, continue with it. If you've got any questions, don't hesitate to email me, I'd be glad to help. How fast does the average sprinter run a 400m at 15 years old?
    depends where at:

some 15 yr old kids in places run 48-50 secs

and in other places some run 52-55. and slower

depends where you live. How fast does the average sprinter run a 400m at 15 years old?
You sound average. I'm a distance runner and my 400 time is around 1:15.
