Need some opinions here.
Me?
I'm a complete distance runner. I can really run forever at a good workout pace, but when i begin to sprint, i dont do so well. I find being a distance runner great, but I've always been curious to know how it was to be a sprinter.|||* I consider distance running the toughest event in track followed by hurdles. In distance, it's not all about your physical condition, but also your mental and psychological conditions..distance runners need to have a positive mind to succeed in a race otherwise they'll just be affected by the negativity they have in their mind and slow down.
* From my personal view, being a distance runner is better than being a sprinter for various reasons.. Haha one of them is that distance runner get to run off campus most of time, while the sprinters are stuck doing repetitive workouts on the track (no offense, these guys are lightning fast).|||I personally love distance running much better. Although i have heard people saying distance sucks because all you do is run 100x laps on the track, this is not true. You need to endure a lot f psychological stress and have a strong mentality. You will want to give up many times, but you dont. Also in distance running, to be fast you have to work at it. I have seen many sprinters who just have natural talent get 1st place in competitions even though they barely practice
lol but i have to say sprinters are crazy fast|||distance requires more cardiovascular endurance, while sprinting is mor power and muscle.|||It's better to be the pole vault catcher guy. You know, the one who stands by the mat to catch the pole after the guy vaults.|||Both are good to aspire to be. It just depends on what you enjoy more. i personally would like to become a great distance runner, but that's just me. I have always looked up to Steve Prefontaine, and many of the people that I run with in high school sports. And I've seen too many arrogant, mean sprinters to want to be like them(no offense to the humble nice good sprinters!), just saying I've had some bad experiences.|||Distance is better. You have more options for races. If you are a sprinter than your races are limited. Distance you can have more flexibility and you can help the team more. You can race in more than one events. Sprinting is fun, but really tough to improve. Hundreths of seconds matter and a bad start can kill you. If you are good at distance stick to it.|||distance is the ownage to put it in simple terms. distance runners can run a wide range of events, like the guy before me said. they can do anything down to like the 400 when called upon and still be competitive up to the 5 and 10k, plus distance runners are just harder core. our coach has us do the sprinter's workouts on days that he wants us to take it easy
