I am not asking this not because I don't know how to arm swing properly like a real sprinter, I just want to know if the information I had got is correct,Could anyone please tell me how to do proper arm swing of a sprinter?
Hello William See: Hope you're having a great day! It sounds like you need this information to pass on to the younger, less experienced sprinters. I could be wrong! I know when I first started coaching track, I would ask other coaches, compared notes, over and over, just to make sure I was right. Oh well, let's talk about the proper arm swing!!
Keep your arms at a 90掳 angle, at the elbow, at all times-- all the power in your upper body comes from the shoulders. Your hands should come up NO higher than your eyes. One trick I've learned over the years, when practicing your arms swing, pull your pockets out, then slap them when you are practicing your arms swing, this will get you or your students used to hitting the proper point every time! Now sprinting--- your arms and legs stay in rhythm, this means if your front leg is up at a 45掳 angle, then your opposite arm is back at a 45掳 angle--- your front leg goes up at a 90掳 angle, then the opposite arm is back at a 90掳 angle--- stay in rhythm! Well William See that's about all I can tell you about the arm swing. Hope I've helped you and not wasted your time.
One more thing I liked say, I have answers (on Yahoo Answers) about sprinting I go the whole 9 yards for the young runners--- check them out and compare!
PEACE
Stand up straight, let your shoulder sag or relax.
Keep your elbows at 90 degrees, and swing your arms straight front to back, not across your body.
Bring your hands up high enough in the front so you can see them, but not higher than your chin, drive your arms back, not down.
In the back the hands should be about even with your hip or back pockets if you were wearing pants with pockets.
Try to keep your hands relaxed, don't make a fist, if you are tight you will fatigue and tire sooner than if you stay relaxed in your upper body.
Everyone is a little different but that is the basics and you can practice this while doing strides and intervals so that you can do it in a race.Could anyone please tell me how to do proper arm swing of a sprinter?
